CEPO, Inc. Mission
Transformation of individuals, organizations, and communities through leadership development.
What is CEPO, Inc.?
Continuing Education for Public Officials, Inc. (CEPO, Inc.) is a non profit organization dedicated to leader development training and skills education of public service professionals. Founded in 1973, CEPO, Inc. has provided a lively educational forum for thousands of city, county and special district officials. Key to CEPO, Inc.'s success is the inter-discipline community created by a wide variety of local government professionals joined by their common commitment to public service.
CEPO, Inc.'s Leadership session is a three-year program consisting of one-week in-residence sessions for three years. During each week's session, participants select their own personal curriculum for the week. Each selects six courses from more than 38 offerings. The learning environment created is conducive to adult learning. Course designs focus on experiential learning, and sessions are small with the average course size of 8-12 participants. Trainer to participant ratio is high, allowing for a deep and insightful learning experience.
CEPO, Inc.'s Professional Development Series are held in February every year and is a series of workshop offerings that develop professional and technical skills of the leaders of today and tomorrow. Each February there are two or three, three-day sessions running concurrent that offer training and development that is relevant and useful in today's organizations. The Professional Development Series is an opportunity for leaders to add to their leadership toolbox - to continue their personal and organizational capacity building - with other like-minded professionals and leaders. All Professional Development Series sessions are based on adult learning principles and combine various methods of instruction with the experiential learning model for maximum results.
The Accelerated Leadership Development Series is designed with the up and coming public manager in mind. As a part of CEPO, Inc.'s Leadership curriculum, this series offers leader development in partnership with Cal-ICMA.
